The Gorefield Horse and Pony Show
13th June 2009, Wolf Lane, Gorefield

A full day of entertainment for the whole family

The 13th June welcomes our annual show to The Playing Field, Wolf Lane, Gorefield. After 46 successful and exciting years, this year’s show promises to be bigger and better than ever. The show kicks off at 8.00am with the much expanded pony show, now a qualifier for B.S.P.S. and P.U.K. The ponies are closely followed by their larger relatives; the heavy horses. Shires, Percherons and Suffolk Punch will be exhibited in the main ring from 9.30am onwards, always a fantastic spectacle. At 12.30 pm The Carriage Driving will take place and will then leave the showground to embark on a 3 to 5 mile drive round the village (a real show stopper), returning to the main ring at 2.00pm, followed by The Grand Parade at 2.30pm.

At 1.00pm the main ring will start off with an interactive falconry display provided by Ye Olde Redtail Falconry Display whose beautiful birds have appeared in films such as Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. This display is suitable for all from pensioners to toddlers, so if you thought falconry displays were boring prepare to be amazed. This attraction is repeated at 3.00pm and between the two performances members of the public will get to view the birds in a static display. Finally in the main ring a magnificent display of vintage machinery and tractors, classic cars and bikes will take place.

As if this was not enough, the showground also boasts an excellent range of side shows and country stalls. For the children, there is a bigger than ever giant slide, bouncy castle, swing boats and athletic competitions with cash prizes. If you want to bring a furry friend, the KC registered dog show offers pedigree and novelty classes for all shapes and sizes and kicks off at 1pm (entries on the field at 12pm).

Delicious snacks will be available from our impressive refreshment tent and the cake stall is just too good to resist! Meanwhile, liquid refreshments will be available from our new and improved licensed bar provided by Jambaree.

The Gorefield show is a great day out for all and is also great value for money for a full day’s entertainment.

The show is held on the Wolf Lane playing field, by kind permission of the committee.
