The Gorefield Horse and Pony Show
11th June 2011, Wolf Lane, Gorefield

A full day of entertainment for the whole family

The 11th June welcomes our annual show to The Playing Field, Wolf Lane, Gorefield. After 48 successful and exciting years, this year’s show promises to be bigger and better than ever. The show kicks off at 8.00am with the much expanded pony show, now a qualifier for B.S.P.S. and P.U.K. The ponies are closely followed by their larger relatives; the heavy horses. Shires, Percherons and Suffolk Punch will be exhibited in the main ring from 9.30am onwards, always a fantastic spectacle.

At 12.30pm there will be a short display of carriage driving in the main ring before the carriages set off for their tour around the village, they will re-enter the ring to be judged at 2.00pm. Whilst they are touring the village there will be a display of vintage tractors and at 1.30pm we will be holding a couple of novelty dog classes. Although The Dog Show has been cancelled due to lack of space the committee felt it would be fun to invite anyone on the field and their furry friend to enter a class such as “dog with the waggiest tail or best six legs. These classes have yet to be decided. There is no entry fee for the novelty dog classes to be held in the main ring this year.

Following this we have The Turn out of The Heavy Horses, The Grand Parade and The Vintage Cars.

This year Mike Willis and his Flight of the Falcon Display will be exhibiting a wide range of birds of prey and the public are invited to get up close and personal to these magnificent creatures. Mike is an accredited rehabilitator with the nationwide charity Raptor Rescue, so come along and find out more about his work and meet these amazing birds.

As if this was not enough, the showground also boasts an excellent range of side shows and country stalls. For the children, there is a bouncy castle, swing boats a teacup ride and athletic competitions with cash prizes Delicious snacks will be available from our impressive refreshment tent and the cake stall is just too good to resist! Meanwhile, liquid refreshments will be available from our new and improved licensed bar provided by Jambaree.

Unfortunately there is no dog show this year due to lack of space,
however our furry friends are still invited to the show if kept on a lead at all times.

The Gorefield show is a great day out for all and is also great value for money for a full day's entertainment.

Adults £3.00
Children and OAP's £2.00
Car on the show field £7.00 (not including occupants)
Disabled parking is provided for free on the field and there is a free car park for all opposite the showground.

The show is held on the Wolf Lane playing field, by kind permission of the committee.

The Gorefield show is a registered charity and therefore does not pay for advertising.
All profits go towards facilities and the community of the village and therefore
any space or coverage you could provide would be much appreciated.
