The Gorefield
Horse and Pony Show
14th June
2008, Wolf Lane, Gorefield
A full day of entertainment for the whole
family
The 14th June welcomed our annual show to the playing field, Gorefield. After 45 successful and exciting years,
this year’s show promised to be bigger and better than ever and there were various ways for the
whole family to enjoy their day.
The show kicked off at 8.00am with the much expanded pony show, now a qualifier for B.S.P.S. and P.U.K. and therefore bringing in entries from all over the U.K. The ponies were closely followed by their larger relatives; the heavy horses. Shires, Percherons and Suffolk Punch were exhibited in the main ring from 10.00am onwards, always a fantastic spectacle.
After the Heavy Horse show at 1.00pm the main ring became very busy, starting off with carriage driving, a display of vintage machinery and tractors, a grand parade, and classic cars and bikes.
As if this was not enough, the showground also boasted an excellent range of side shows and country stalls. For the children, there was a bigger than ever giant slide, bouncy castle, swing boats and athletic competitions with cash prizes. If you brought a furry friend, the KC registered dog show offered pedigree and novelty classes for all shapes and sizes.
Delicious snacks were available from our impressive refreshment tent and the cake stall was just too good to resist! Meanwhile, liquid refreshments were available from the licensed bar.
The Gorefield show is a great day out for all and is also great value for money, for a full day’s entertainment.
