Gorefield Community Car Scheme
| What is Gorefield Community Car Scheme? |
The Car Scheme provides door-to-door transport for those folks, especially the elderly, who do not have the use of a car and cannot make a journey by bus or dial-a-ride.
The Journeys are arranged at the discretion of a coordinator and the driver of the vehicle.
These Volunteers support the community by giving both their time and vehicles and do not make a profit, only recovering their running costs.

| How much does it cost? |
Passengers are asked to contribute 25p per mile
towards the cost of their journey. The driver
receives a subsidy per mile from Cambridgeshire
County Council. The combined amount aims to
cover expenses incurred by the driver, such as
petrol costs and some of the wear and tear on the
car. Passengers are asked to pay their contribution
to the driver on the day of travel.
Please note there is a minimum charge of £2.50 for
all journeys
If possible please telephone between 9.00am and 10.30am Monday to Friday, An answer phone is available to leave messages outside these hours. Please try to give as much notice as you can – at least 24 hours notice would be appreciated, Obvious we know but please leave your name, address and telephone number if you use the answer phone
