Shape Your Place www.shapeyourplace.org is a groundbreaking website giving residents in Wisbech and surrounding villages the power to improve their neighbourhood.

It's a new kind of site for Cambridgeshire that allows residents to report problems in their neighbourhood, share good ideas, news and events with each other and celebrate where they live.

What does it do?
www.shapeyourplace.org lets residents:
bullet Report issues affecting their neighbourhood directly to local services (Cambridgeshire County Council, Fenland District Council, Cambridgeshire Constabulary and Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue)
bullet View comments from local services about how they can resolve issues
bullet Suggest ideas for improvements where they live
bullet View what neighbours have reported and join in conversations with them
bullet Read blogs and view videos on local events and issues produced by local people

Residents will be able to report a variety of issues including anti social behaviour, housing, road and transport problems, fly tipping and drugs and alcohol problems.

Who's behind the project?
The website, www.shapeyourplace.org, the first of its kind in Cambridgeshire, has been launched by the Rosmini Centre, a community organisation based in Wisbech.

This online approach represents Cambridgeshire's first venture to deliver a Big Society concept - where local people have a greater say about services and have the opportunity to run them themselves

Shapeyourplace.org is being run by the community for the community, with the Rosmini Centre being commissioned to run the site by Cambridgeshire County Council, the developers of the site.

How can I get involved?
To ensure shapeyourplace.org retains its community focus, the Rosmini Centre, along with its partners, will be recruiting volunteers to help run the site who will be involved in helping communities report and blog about issues and events and help run the site.

For anyone wanting volunteer, call the Rosmini Centre on 01945 474422 or email rcw_manager@btconnect.com or go to the site and click on About/Get Involved.

What's the future?
Shapeyourplace.org is being launched as a pilot for communities in Wisbech and the surrounding villages and will be rolled out to the rest of Fenland at the end of 2010. Residents can also report issues at the Neighbourhood Forums and the Community Fairs - Fenland District Council will be advertising these shortly.
